December 17, 2022: Hi all. I'm still here, just been very busy (who of us is not?) I'm working on updating Maison Newton bit by bit, it's been awhile since I changed things up. Happy Holidays to all, soon the Winter Solstice will arrive and then the days will start to get longer once again, hooray!

Fall, 2012 Is Here!

Would you like to see the trends in the fall collections?  Vogue's picks?  Check it all out!

Vogue's Guide to Fall 2012 Fashions

Along with ridiculous "dark" make-up and the nude lip (I didn't even realize the nude lip had ever "left", darlings! -- it's my usual look, topped only by cherry-flavoured Chapstick or the cheap Walgreen's substitute), the SHEATH in its latest incarnation is baaaacccckkkkk.....

What is ridiculous?  This shape is blah and the proportions are AWFUL - look at where the sleeves cut off the model's arms!  The color is lovely, but this dress reminds me of spring, not the autumnal equinox.  My wrists would be constantly freezing!  The styling isn't great, either.  MISS!  This dress from the Calvin Klein Collection, New York.

What is perfection?  When I saw this dress my breath involuntarily sucked in and I went oooooooh!  It's rich, it's gorgeous, it's lucious.  Love the length, which gives some coverage on a chilly day, love love love the cut!  Look at what he did with that fabulous neckline!  Oh my!  This dress would be perfect to ward off the drafts from an errant HVAC system (such as that which exists in the building in which I work, where I am either freezing cold or semi-suffocated with hot blasts of air between 2:30 and. 3:30 p.m. every afternoon...)  WIN!  MEGA WIN!  This dress from Haider Ackermann,

I'm so happy Vogue has so much of its content now available online for free - check it out, beautiful visuals even when you don't like all the silly crap they do to these too skinny women. This is not a paid advertisement for Vogue.  I don't do that "monetizing" thing.  To each their own!

    1. I like the style of the second dress - oh, not for me, but I can see where it might be a big seller with women who have much trimmer figures than mine! Twenty years ago I would have looked great in such a dress. Oh well. Time and gravity happen to us all.

  2. Pam- I just wanted to drop by and answer a question you left on my blog about my mom First - I think you are pretty presumptious to ask that question. The financial situation of my family is our business and not yours. I'm sure you would not appreciate someone asking you how you paid for something in your life and not do something for another family member. I don't know anything about your life (and don't want to) and you certainly don't know about the financail situation in mine - if you read other entries on my blog you might know a little more before you put in your 2 cents of misinformation. I tried to find a way to send this to you on an email and not post this on your blog - but did not find one. You can delete this after you read it - but I wanted to let you know that you need to remember what people say about assumptions - just take out the "me" part of that.

    1. You do have the option of deleting my post because it offends you. I put 2 and 2 together and reached a conclusion that you say is "presumptious." Okay. I'm just rude enough to post it but I'll bet other readers were wondering something similar to me and they were too polite. Perhaps you should re-read what you wrote and edit it somewhat to head off such gross speculation.
